This melody is based on the old traditional song 'Frankie and Johnny.' That song starts out with the line 'Frankie and Johnny were lovers.' From there it wasn't too far a jump to 'Stinky and Squeaky were brothers.' For reasons of self-preservation, I will not say whether this is based on myself and my brother Chris, or if it is completely fictional. But for those of you who saw our shared room growing up, you know the answer.
STINKY AND SQUEAKY
Stinky and Squeaky were brothers, born just a minute apart
But they couldn’t have been more different, right from the very start
Like night and day in so many ways
Stinky loved to get dirty, Squeaky he loved to stay clean
While Stinky rolled in the dirt, Squeaky would just primp and preen
Like night and day in so many ways
Squeaky he lived for bath time, took three or four a day
Stinky took a bath in October, and didn’t take another till May
Like night and day in so many ways
Stinky made a pretty good mud pie, full of thick brown goopity-goo
Squeaky would never go near them cause he didn’t want to dirty his shoes
Like night and day in so many ways
Squeaky didin’t play many games cause a speck of dust would make him mad
Stinky didn’t have many friends because he smelled pretty bad
Like night and day in so many ways
Don’t be too much like Stinky and smell just like a barn
Don’t be too much like Squeaky, a little dirt never did no harm
Like night and day in so many ways
Like night and day--in so many ways
